Honolulu man facing federal bank robbery charges

Advertiser Staff

A bank robbery suspect being held at the main police station cellblock will be turned over tomorrow to federal authorities for prosecution.

William J. Foley, 34, surrendered to police Sunday night and was taken to District Court on a $250 warrant yesterday. After his court appearance, police arrested Foley and booked him on two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of second-degree robbery.

The first-degree counts are connected to the April 7 robbery of Territorial Savings on Bishop Street and the April 21 robbery of First Hawaiian Bank's Liliha branch. The second-degree count is related to the April 11 robbery of American Savings Bank at Ala Moana in which no cash was taken.
