'Lost' boys make Roy's their 2nd home

Josh Holloway (Sawyer on "Lost") and his wife, Yessica, dined at Roy's Hawai'i Kai with the show's producers a few nights back, and the party enjoyed some of Roy Yamaguchi's classics, such as the miso-yaki butterfish and crispy moi. The Holloways, who live in Hawai'i Kai, are Roy's regulars, along with showmates Jorge Garcia (Hurley) and Daniel Dae Kim (Jin). By the way, Zameer Mallal. the new general manager at Roy's, says the restaurant will be closed May 16 through June 16 for renovations. So, you might want to reserve a table by mid-May; you could be next to Sawyer. ...

WHEE, THE PEOPLE: If you notice the absence of Jill Kuramoto, the KITV 4 reporter and weekend anchorwoman, she's on special assignment - motherhood. She gave birth to her first child, son Jace Randall, on April 22, with the "breaking news" happening at 3:20 a.m. Mom, newborn and new dad, David Randall, are all doing well. Kuramoto will not be on-air for a couple of months. Jace arrived a month before mom's birthday, which is today. ...

"Al Waterson and You," the singing competition at 6 p.m. every Sunday at Don Ho's Island Grill, has had a string of judges since its inception. One was Joanne Banda of the group Forte; on the night she was analyzing contestants, back in February 2004, one of the singers was David Bonilla, who took a shine to Banda and invited her to dinner. They've been together ever since, marrying on Sept. 24, 2006, and residing in Los Angeles, with another milestone on March 22, 2007, when daughter Khloe was born. The family paid Waterson and his wife, Nancy Bernal (who used to manage Forte), a visit on April 20, and of course, they spent a sentimental Sunday at Don Ho's Island Grill, where they initially met. And yes, Bonilla was a winner in the Feb. 17, 2004, competition. ...

DATES TO CIRCLE: May's First Friday events (this Friday) at Hawai'i State Art Museum will feature two venues, the Live From the Lawn concert with Maunalua and Halau Mohala 'Ilima, and the Lanai Lounge with Ledward Kalapana, Jazz Crimes and Mihana Souza. Ed Kenney of Downtown will, of course, provide food and drinks at both sites. ...

Kalapana returns earlier in the day from his West Coast tour with Mike Kaawa, and the twosome will release their "Force of Nature" CD at HiSAM. ...

The husband-and-wife team of Mark and Stephanie Conching has produced a musical comedy melodrama, "The Musical Adventures of Robin Hood," set for a May 2-3 run at the Hawai'i Theatre. Participating: OC Time, a quartet from Los Angeles, and Vocal Motion, from Kahuku High School. Don Conover mans the theater organ. ...

The second annual Denim & Diamonds Fundraiser, from 5:30 p.m. to midnight May 31 at the Sheraton Waikiki hotel's Hanohano Room, will help provide dental needs of Island youths through the Hawai'i Dental Association Samaritans. ITEMIZATIONS: Manoa DNA, the group featuring Lloyd, Alex and Nick Kawakami, is off to Japan to headline the Hawai'i Tourism Japan's 2008 campaign. "The boys and I are very honored to be chosen as Hawai'i's ambassadors and realize how important our job is, given the state of our economy and Japan tourism," dad Lloyd said. Manoa DNA recently toured Oregon and Colorado university campuses, spreading the music and aloha of Hawai'i. ...

Richard Natto, a member of the Society of Seven Las Vegas group, has become an official endorser of the Ko'olau Guitar line, crafted by John Kitakis. He gets two guitars in the deal, one for the SOSLV show at the Outrigger Waikiki's Main Showroom, the other for his "NightTime With Andy Bumatai" TV gig. Locally, Ledward Kalapana, Henry Kapono, Cecilio Rodriguez and Benny Chong strum Ko'olau instruments. ...

What do Nathan Aweau, Raiatea Helm, Jasmine Trias and Jerome Koko have in common” They're doing PSA spots for radio and TV to support Mental Health Kokua's upcoming multimedia photography exhibit by Michael Nye called "Fine Line: Mental Health/Mental Illness," at the Linekona Academy Art Center, showing May 15-31. The entertainers completed individual pitches set for a May 1 launch. ...

Sticking together: Many cast members of Diamond Head Theatre's "Flower Drum Song," including Wil Kahele, Brad Mezurashi, and the Dung Sisters, took in Kapolei High School's closing night performance of "Flower Drum Song." One proud mom of the Kapolei endeavor: Jade Glover. The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical marked daughter Aubrey's debut as a choreographer. ...

Taimane Gardner, the singer who plays a mean uke, opened the Chicago concert on Maui. ...
