LIHU'E
Kauai court tours will go to cellblock, chamber

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Law Day, the Hawai'i State Judiciary will offer public tours of the Kaua'i court complex from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Tours are available of the new customer service center, cellblock, a judicial chamber, and other areas of the courthouse not usually open to the public.

The judiciary is sponsoring various activities throughout the state in support of Law Day, which is celebrated nationwide each year on or around May 1.

The Legal Aid Society, Drug Court, and Kaua'i Economic Opportunity Inc. will have informational displays in the courthouse lobby.

Located at 3970 Ka'ana St. in Lihu'e, the courthouse is named Pu'uhonua Kaulike, which means "sanctuary of justice."
