'EWA BEACH
Suspect charged with brother's stabbing death

Prosecutors yesterday charged Jose Tubera Jr. with the stabbing death of his brother-in-law Tuesday night at their 'Ewa Beach home.

Tubera, 59, is accused of second-degree murder and first-degree terroristic threatening and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail at the main police station cellblock pending his initial appearance today at District Court.

Adolfo Alonso Jr., 65, died of stab wounds to the upper torso allegedly sustained during a fight with Tubera at their residence at 91-693 Pohakupuna Road.

An affidavit filed yesterday at District Court said that the victim's son, Richard Alonso, saw his father and Tubera involved in a "heated altercation" in the front yard of the residence at about 6 p.m.

Richard Alonso, 29, went outside to break up the confrontation and saw his father lying on the ground motionless, apparently unconscious, the document stated. Richard Alonso also stated that he saw Tubera brandishing a knife that appeared to have blood on it.
