Waikiki robbery suspect facing federal charges

A Waikiki man arrested Friday on suspicion of armed robbery was being held today at the main police station cellblock for federal authorities.

The man, 35, was arrested by Waikiki Crime Reduction Unit officers at his Seaside Avenue hotel for investigation of first-degree robbery offenses which occurred June 25 and June 26.

The suspect allegedly entered two different businesses in Waikiki and used a robbery demand note indicating he had a weapon. Police did not disclose what type of businesses were robbed.
