Witnesses sought in critical Kona bike crash

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i County police are seeking witnesses to a bicycle crash last week in Kailua Kona in which a 51-year-old man suffered critical injuries.

The man is at The Queen's Medical Center, police said.

The bicyclist was headed west on Henry Street on July 27 at about 2:15 p.m. when he apparently lost control of his bike and hit his head on a light pole east of the entrance to Lanihau Shopping Center.

Anyone who may have seen the crash can call Officer Darren Cho, 326-4646, extension 253; the Police Department's non-emergency line, 935-3311, or Big Island CrimeStoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
