PACIFIC HEALTH RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Pacific Health Research Institute has promoted ANITA SWANSON to chief financial officer and director of operations. She was, most recently, deputy director of the department of health and behavioral health administration.

Also named at PHRI is new manager of grants and contracts administration SONAVIE ONG, a veteran of grants/budget administration and research funding, primarily in the biomedical research field. Formerly, she was business manager for the University of Maryland, Department of Veterinary Medicine.

PHRI, founded in 1960 — and funded by the National Institutes of Health, private foundation and individual donations — works with research centers in Hawai'i, the Pacific, Asia and Mainland U.S., in areas including cancer, diabetes, dementia, Parkinson's disease, neurodegenerative disorders, longevity, obesity, hypertension and heart disease.

CONCIERGE ASSOCIATION OF HAWAI'I

In conjunction with the professional concierge organization, Les Clefs d'Or and Morris Visitor Publications, concierges on O'ahu have formed the Concierge Association of Hawai'i to further the educational and professional needs of its members, and improve the Hawai'i visitor experience.

Officers include president, MARION SATO, of The Kahala Hotel and Resort; vice president for marketing /public relations, FRANK HERNANDEZ, of The Halekulani; vice president for membership, SUSAN KOKI, of The Halekulani; vice president for finance, WENDY WONG, of The Halekulani; and vice president for operations, NAOMI ABE, of Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki.

GINGER WATERS has been named named marketing director, and CHERYL GALLAGHER has been named director of sales at Honolulu Cookie Co.
