Bacteria in local waters subject of Thursday talk

The Summer Staph Institute will present a free lecture on staphylococcus bacteria in local waters Thursday.

The lecture will feature a panel of experts, including infectious disease specialist Dr. Alan Tice, who will discuss how infections can be contracted in the water and how oceangoers can protect themselves. The free event at the Queen's Medical Center conference center auditorium runs from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Free pizza and root beer will be provided.
