Maui County's new "Lahaina Villager" bus route offers a connection between Lahaina Town and surrounding areas.

The Lahaina Villager Route No. 23, which began service Friday, circles through the Lahainaluna, Wahikuli and Villages of Leiali'i neighborhoods and continues through Lahaina Town from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., connecting with existing county bus service to other areas, including Ka'anapali, Napili, Ma'alaea and Wailuku.

Lahaina Bypass Now compiled travel pattern data last year that showed many Lahaina Town employees live in and around the Lahainaluna and Wahikuli neighborhoods. The group collected petitions and testified at budget hearings in support of a new Lahaina Villager route.

Maui Bus is a service of the county operated by Roberts Hawaii.
