Advertiser Staff

Waipi'o defeated Pleasanton (Calif.) American, 8-0, today to advance to the title game of the Little League Majors (ages 11 and 12) Western Regional in San Bernardino, Calif.

Waipi'o (4-1), the Hawai'i champion, plays the winner of this afternoon's Paseo Verde (Henderson, Nev.)-Arrowhead (Glendale, Ariz.) semifinal in the regional title game on Sunday. The champion advances to the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pa.

Waipi'o starting pitcher Caleb Duhay allowed just one hit in 5 2/3 innings to earn the victory. Tanner Tokunaga hit a two-run homer in a four-run fifth inning, while Jedd Andrade had went 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Kainoa Fong also had two hits for Waipi'o.

Sunday's regional title game is scheduled to be telecast on ESPN2 at 4 p.m. Hawai'i time.

Two other Hawai'i teams have already earned Little League World Series trips — Hilo in the Junior (13-14) League and Pearl City in the Senior (15-16) League.
