KAILUA
Plant sale will benefit women inmate program

A plant sale from 8 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at Kailua Elementary School will benefit an education program at the women's prison. The school is at 315 Ku'ulei Road, next to Kailua Public Library.

The Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle uses the money from its event to provide landscape and plant cultivation classes at the Women's Community Correctional Center.

In return, the women who take the classes care for community beautification projects completed by the Lani-Kailua group.

All the plants for sale were raised by the women and include specimens of areca palm, green rose, red ti, croton, gardenia, star of India, red ginger, stephanotis, bougainvillea and dracaena. Large and small sizes are available.
