The Honolulu Arts and Culture District is celebrating the "luckiest day of the millennium" with a day of art, crafts, food, music and more throughout the day.

To take advantage of what some cultures believe to be a particularly auspicious date, participating merchants in Chinatown will be offering bookmarks that people can write wishes on before hanging them from bamboo thickets. If that wish isn't enough, at 8:08 p.m., there will be a mass bubble-wishing moment followed by lion dances.

In the evening, arts merchants will host a street fair with live entertainment and a broadcast of the 2008 Olympics' opening ceremony.
