Weather: Mix of sun, wind and showers for today

A high pressure area north of the islands will continue to fuel the breezy trade winds through today, the National Weather Service said.

The winds are expected to decrease a bit with the start of the new week when the high weakens and drifts to the south.

Clouds and showers will favor windward and mauka areas, spreading leeward at times.

Here's how the weekend is shaping up:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind between 15 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Scattered showers, mainly after midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind between 14 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 88. East wind between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: Scattered showers, mainly before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
