In his second NFL preseason appearance, former University of Hawai'i quarterback Colt Brennan completed 4 of 8 passes for 37 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions in the third quarter of Washington's 17-14 victory over Buffalo at Washington.
Brennan led a short drive, following a Redskin fumble recovery, that resulted in what proved to be the game-winning field goal.
Brennan entered the game in the Redskins' first series of the third quarter with the game tied at 14. On Buffalo's first series, Dwayne Wright fumbled at the Bills 37 and the ball was recovered by Washington's Alfred Fincher.
Brennan's first pass went deep but was incomplete. After Marcus Mason ran for 3 yards to the Buffalo 34, Brennan completed a 6-yard pass to Billy McMullen to the Buffalo 28. Shaun Suisham then kicked a 46-yard field goal to give Washington (2-0) a 17-14 lead with 10:59 to go in the third period.
Brennan's second drive ended the Buffalo 43 and the Redskins were forced to punt. He had his longest completion of the night — 13 yards to McMullen.
In his final drive of the third quarter, Brennan was sacked for 9 yards and completed a 10-yard pass to Marcus Mason before being forced to punt on fourth down at the Buffalo 47.
Brennan was replaced in the fourth quarter by Derek Devine. Todd Collins and Jason Campbell played the first two quarters.
Brennan, who is battling for a roster spot, was a sixth-round pick by the Redskins in the NFL Draft.
