Top 10 Philippines chef coming Thursday to Waipahu

A top 10 chef from the Philippines, Claude Tayag, will whip up award-winning sauces and dips at the culinary event, Pau Hana in Waipahu, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Filipino Community Center.

The free event introduces Tayag's home-style gourmet sauces: crab fat (a Philippines-style caviar); balo-balo (fermented rice and shrimp); and inasal BBQ marinade. Tayag, whose restaurant, Bale Dutung, has been named a "Top 10 Awesome Restaurant of the Philippines" by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, will also sign copies of his cookbook, "Food Tour."
