Waikiki woman facing reckless driving charges

Advertiser Staff

A 49-year-old Waikiki woman is facing multiple charges related to a reckless driving incident late last night.

The woman, who has two prior convictions, was booked at the main police station cellblock at 12:10 a.m. today for investigation of first-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree reckless endangering, operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant, and resisting arrest. Police said minimum force was required to affect the arrest.

Police attempted to pull the woman over after an officer allegedly saw her speeding vehicle go through two red lights and cause a near collision at about 11:50 p.m. The officer had his blue light and siren on but the woman allegedly continued driving. She allegedly swerved her vehicle into the officer's lane causing the HPD vehicle to hit a curb, police said.

The suspect sped off and nearly caused another collision, police said.

Police were able to stop the vehicle at an undisclosed intersection.
