A high pressure area north of the state is expected to weaken and shift to the east, resulting in lighter trade winds today through Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

Showers will remain focused over windward and mauka areas. Local sea breezes will bring a few more afternoon clouds and showers to leeward sections, forecasters said.

The trades will likely regain strength late Friday and into the weekend as the high pressure area rebuilds north of the state.
