Trial scheduled for '06 fatal moped collision in Ewa

Advertiser Staff

A Pearl City man charged with misdemeanor third-degree negligent homicide in the 2006 death of a moped operator was scheduled for non-jury trial this week.

Lorenzo Gaspar, 32, was involved in an early morning collision on Aug. 19 on Fort Weaver Road. Gaspar pulled over to the right side of the roadway after blowing a tire and collided with a moped.

The moped operator, 58-year-old Loreto E. Jose of 'Ewa Beach, suffered critical injuries and died eight days later.

As a formality, Gaspar was booked at the main police station yesterday for third-degree negligent homicide and released.
