Hilo rolls past Massachusetts in Junior League World Series

Advertiser Staff

Ekolu Martens, Kian Kurokawa and Conner Yoshioka combined on a three-hitter as Hilo routed Canton, Mass., 12-0, in the Little League Juniors (ages 13-14) World Series today at Taylor, Mich.

Martens, who pitched the first three innings, also had a three-run single in the first against Canton, the U.S. East champion.

The game was shortened to five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Koa Matson belted a three-run homer in the fifth for Hilo, the U.S. West champion.

Hilo (2-1) will play U.S. Central champion Johnston, Iowa tomorrow at 11 a.m. Hawai'i time.
