UH men's hoops schedule features 20 home games

The University of Hawaii men's basketball team will play 29 regular-season games, including 20 at home, during the 2008-09 season.

The schedule for the upcoming season was released today. It will be the second season under head coach Bob Nash for the Rainbow Warriors.

The schedule includes 12 home games against non-conference opponents, including a home date for the annual ESPN Bracket Buster Saturday.

Among the scheduled home opponents for non-conference games are San Francisco, Cal State Fullerton, Idaho State, Iowa State, Prairie View A&M, Eastern Washington, Chicago State and UC Riverside.

The 'Bows will also play three home games in the 45th annual Rainbow Classic, which is scheduled for Dec. 27-30 at the Stan Sheriff Center. Teams joining Hawaii in this year's field are Buffalo, Colorado, Colorado State, Coppin State, George Washington, Pepperdine and Vermont.

The 'Bows will also play a non-conference road game at Illinois on Dec. 8.

The schedule also includes 16 Western Athletic Conference games — eight at home and eight on the road. The WAC Tournament is scheduled for March 10-14 at Reno, Nev.
