Upper Ward Ave. traffic slowed by repair work

Advertiser Staff

A section of Ward Avenue between Lunalilo and Green streets was closed this afternoon to allow the Board of Water Supply to complete repair work to the sidewalk and roadway damaged earlier today by a broken valve.

The mauka-bound lane is closed and traffic was being contra-flowed using the makai-bound lane at 5:30 p.m.

The Honolulu Fire Department accidentally damaged the valve while trying to shut off water to a nearby damaged hydrant. The valve was repaired and water service restored by 2:30 p.m.
