Prosecutors today charged two men with the alleged theft of a display case of sunglasses from a Honolulu retail store.

John K. Kealoha and John Jung Soo Pak, both 43, are accused of second-degree burglary and are each being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Kealoha has 27 prior convictions and Pak 26 convictions, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records.

The two were arrested Tuesday following a traffic stop for speeding at the intersection of Ke'eaumoku and South Beretania streets at 1:20 a.m.

During the stop, police were dispatched to investigate a burglary complaint at a nearby retail store. Police found the store's front window shattered. A revolving display case of sunglasses was stolen in the burglary.

Upon learning what was stolen in burglary, police at the scene of the traffic stop saw a display case matching the description of the stolen item in the vehicle. The display case was later identified by the retail store owner.

In addition to burglary, Kealoha and Pak are being held on outstanding warrants totaling $1,400 and $630, respectively.
