Portland Trail Blazers all-star guard Brandon Roy is expected to be out 4-8 weeks after successful arthroscopic surgery yesterday to repair a partial tear in the meniscus of his left knee.

"We are looking forward to Brandon making a full recovery and expect him to be ready for the start of the regular season," said Trail Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard.

Trail Blazers team physician Dr. Don Roberts performed the surgery at Southwest Washington Regional Surgery Center in Vancouver, Wash.

While Roy is on the mend, another Blazer is back from microfracture surgery on his knee.

Greg Oden, the No. 1 overall pick in last year's NBA draft, competed in 2-on-2 drills Wednesday that was open to the media.

"Obviously, Greg's doing so well," Pritchard said. "Greg's gotten bigger, he's gotten stronger. I think we almost need to get new braces for the backboard. He almost tore it down twice."

"I'm feeling good. I'm ready to get out there," Oden said.
