Tim Quinn, national and celebrity makeup artist for Giorgio Armani Cosmetics, has designed faces for celebrities including Ziyi Zhang, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Garner and Kate Bosworth, as well as the casts of the hit TV series "Sex and the City" and "Desperate Housewives." He travels all over the world training makeup artists and preparing the backstage looks for models from Milan to China. Now he's coming to Honolulu to help Island women look their prettiest.

Quinn and his team of Armani makeup artists will be at Neiman Marcus Ala Moana for the official launch of Giorgio Armani Cosmetics in Hawai'i. They will also introduce the fall 2008 python collection, featuring the subtle, neutral hues of fall Armani fashions. The team will tailor fall face looks for Island women from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 22 and 23. Appointments are required: 948-7414.

While at Neiman Marcus, check out what the mannequins are wearing to spotlight the fall season and the store's 10thanniversary celebrations. Some fall trends: berry colors, satin, high-vamp shoes, lace, sleek shapes, romantic blouses and statement jewelry for women; shades of gray, cardigans, vests and exotics for men.

NEW UH WARRIOR SHIRTS

Just in time for football season, Crazy Shirts has introduced its latest University of Hawai'i Warrior Football designs. The ti leaf-dyed cotton T-shirts come in three motifs: "Warrior Football," a UH Warrior-branded football with Hawaiian tribal designs; "UH Local Game," a UH Warrior-branded football that looks like a coconut; and "UH Lei Band," a woman's scoop-neck T-shirt with the UH Warrior logo, a lei and tribal designs.

The shirts are available in adult sizes and sell for $25 to $29 at select Crazy Shirts stores and online at www.crazyshirts.com.

'COLOR AND INSPIRATION'

Daryl Lancaster, a handweaver and fiber artist known for her handwoven pieced garments, will present "Color and Inspiration," a free public lecture at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Academy Art Center at Linekona. She will address ways to translate color, mood and theme into fabrics and ultimately, a garment.

Lecture attendees are asked to bring paper, pencil and colorful pictures from magazines as part of a participatory exercise. The lecture is sponsored by Hawai'i Handweavers Hui. For information, call Geri McBeth at 261-9701.

INDULGE YOURSELF

The Hawai'i Fashion Incubator, or Hifi, presents "Indulge," an evening of fashion, food, cocktails and camaraderie from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bar 35. This month's featured designer is Denise Tjarks, a handbag designer from Kaua'i. Tjarks is known for her eco-friendly, fun and fashion-forward styles created with vintage fabrics, most of which were formerly mu'umu'u or aloha shirts. Many of her styles are reversible. It's a rare opportunity to see such a large selection of her popular bags.

The 3,000-square-foot store is the second in a series of stores in the U.S. renovated to emulate the enhanced brand image. The interior design features sleek black granite floor tiling and plush gray carpet inlay. Some vertical surfaces are covered in a charcoal plisse fabric, counterpointed by taupe silk and black structured wood elements. The storefront is gleaming silvery steel.
