Athletes compete at Hershey

 •  Archery puts everyone on even playing field

The Honolulu Mixed Plate, a club basketball team of intermediate school athletes, rolled to a 3-0 record and the championship at the 2008 Jett National Invitational Basketball Tournament in Los Angeles last month. Honolulu Mixed Plate outscored its opponents 113-43 in the tournament, including a 29-19 victory over the Saberette Slammerz in the title game. The team members are: Alyssa Finger, Camy Aguinaldo, Lindsey Combs, Maile Pang, Jamie Hwang, Tatiana Mariano, Brittnie Lee, Kayla Agustin and Caitlin Pang. The coaches are Jim Mariano, Dennis Matsumura and Fred Agustin.

Seven Hawai'i athletes competed in the National Hershey Track and Field Games in Hershey, Pa., from July 31 to Aug. 3.

Wayne Taulapapa, from Kahuku, placed seventh in the 9-10 boys standing broad jump with a leap of 6 feet, 5.75 inches.

Kaylin Kawamura, of Lihu'e, finished ninth in the 9-10 girls softball throw with a toss of 102-6.

Joshua Breitbarth, of Hilo, was fifth in the 9-10 boys softball throw with a toss of 145-6.5.

Kalei Vaivai, of Wailuku, placed fourth in the 13-14 girls softball throw with a toss of 174-10.

Darrius Lopez, of Kapolei, was 10th in the 13-14 boys softball throw with a throw of 185-11.75.

Jeremy Tabuyo, of Honolulu, was fifth in the 13-14 boys 200-meter dash with a time of 24.56 seconds.

Devan Stubblefield, of 'Ewa Beach, was eighth in the 11-12 boys 400-meter dash in a time of 1:13.54.
