Weather: Isolated and scattered showers likely today

A high pressure area is continuing to strengthen far to the north of the state, the National Weather Service said.

Moderate trade winds will carry remnant moisture from a former tropical storm system to the islands resulting in a small increase in trade showers primarily over the Big Island tonight and Sunday.

Here's how the rest of the weekend is shaping up:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind between 11 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 77. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind between 13 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind between 13 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
