Ewa man accused of robbery, kidnapping

Advertiser Staff

An 'Ewa man was charged today with allegedly kidnapping and forcing a couple to sign over ownership of their luxury sports utility vehicle to him.

Dodina Lima Toa, 24, was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail for second-degree robbery, two counts of kidnapping, auto theft and three outstanding warrants. His initial appearance is tomorrow at District Court.

Toa allegedly forced his way into a Lincoln Navigator in Waipahu on Saturday at about 8:30 a.m., assaulted the occupants — a man, 31, and woman, 29 — and drove the vehicle to a Pearl City storage unit where the couple was forced to sign over ownership. Toa allegedly also took ownership of a second vehicle from the couple, police said.

Two women, ages 30 and 41, arrested with Toa Saturday night in Waikiki were released pending further investigation.
