Associated Press

HONG KONG — Anky van Grunsven of The Netherlands has won her third straight gold medal in equestrian individual dressage.

Isabell Werth of Germany took silver.

Either Werth or van Grunsven have held the top spot on the podium for more than a decade. Werth won gold and van Grunsven silver in 1996, and they reversed in 2000. Van Grunsven also won in 2004.

Van Grunsven scored 82.4 percent on Salinero in the Grand Prix Freestyle on Tuesday. This was combined with her score in the Grand Prix Special test on Saturday to earn a final average of 78.68.

Werth scored 78.1 percent in the freestyle on Satchmo, for a final average of 76.65.

Heike Kemmer of Germany won the bronze on Bonaparte with a freestyle score of 75.95 percent and a final average of 74.455.
