HAWAI'I KAI
Candidates for mayor, BOE at Aug. 26 forum

Mayoral and Board of Education candidates will participate in a forum from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at Haha'ione Elementary School, 595 Pepe'ekeo St.

At least six of the nine mayoral candidates have indicated they will attend. However, Mayor Mufi Hannemann will be out of state and will send a representative, said Greg Knudsen, chairman of the Hawai'i Kai Neighborhood Board, which is hosting the forum.

Seven of nine O'ahu at-large Board of Education candidates will attend, as well as two of the three Honolulu BOE candidates.

Beth Ann Kozlovich, executive producer and host of Hawaii Public Radio's "Town Square" and "On Politics," will moderate.

Mayoral candidates will answer questions first, at 7:15 p.m. after a brief neighborhood board meeting. BOE candidates will follow at 8:20 p.m.

If time permits, pre-submitted questions from the public will be presented. Send questions to stevehknb4@hawaiiantel.net by Aug. 25.
