WAI'ANAE
New homeless shelter to get blessing, VIPs today

Gov. Linda Lingle and other dignitaries will be on hand today for the official blessing and dedication of a new homeless shelter.

Kahikolu 'Ohana 'O Wai'anae is a 72-unit, 40-bed dormitory emergency/transitional shelter funded in part by the state and operated by the Hawai'i Coalition of Christian Churches.

The shelter began accepting clients early this month.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the shelter, 85-296 Ala Hema St.
