State tournament schedule released

The 2008-2009 Hawai'i High School Athletic Association state tournament schedule has been released, with some exact dates and sites still to be determined.

Of particular note, the boys and girls basketball state tournaments will be held on separate weeks, after last year's tournaments created a logjam by being held almost simultaneously. Also, the Island Movers Track and Field Championships will be held on the Big Island for the first time, at a site to be determined.

Here is the schedule:

Civilian Marksmanship Program Air Riflery: Oct. 28 at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

Billy Tees Bowling: Oct. 30 and 31 at Lihue Bowling Center.

Honolulu Marathon Cross Country: Oct. 31 at Hawai'i Preparatory Academy.

New City Nissan Girls Volleyball (Divisions I and II): Nov. 5, 6, 7 at school sites and Nov. 8 at Stan Sheriff Center.

First Hawaiian Bank Football (Divisions I and II): Nov. 21 first round and Nov. 28 semifinals (sites TBA) and Dec. 5 championship at Aloha Stadium.

Zippy's Cheerleading: Dec. 7 at Stan Sheriff Center.

JN Automotive Group Girls Soccer (Divisions I and II): Feb. 4 to Feb. 7 at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Park.

First Hawaiian Bank Canoe Paddling: Feb. 6 at Hanakao'o Beach Park (Maui).

JN Automotive Group Boys Soccer (Divisions I and II): Feb. 11 to Feb. 14 at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Park.

Local Motion Swimming and Diving: Feb. 13 and 14 at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Chevron Wrestling: Feb. 20 and 21, Blaisdell Arena.

Hawaiian Airlines Girls Basketball (Divisions I and II): Feb. 24 to Feb. 27 at high school sites and Blaisdell Arena.

Hawaiian Airlines Boys Basketball (Divisions I and II): March 4 to 7 at high school sites and Blaisdell Arena.

David S. Ishii Foundation Girls Golf: Week of May 3 to 9 (two days) at site TBA .

Carlsmith Ball Tennis: May 6 to May 9 at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Local Motion Girls Water Polo: May 6 to May 9 at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Wally Yonamine Foundation Division I Baseball: May 6 to May 9 at Les Murakami Stadium.

Wally Yonamine Foundation Division II Baseball: May 6 to May 9 at sites TBA/Les Murakami Stadium.

Judo: May 9 at Stan Sheriff Center.

David S. Ishii Foundation Boys Golf: Week of May 10 to May 16 (two days) at site TBA.

Data House Division I Softball: May 12 to May 15 at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Data House Division II Softball: May 12 to May 15 at Central O'ahu Regional Park/Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

New City Nissan Boys Volleyball (Divisions I and II): May 13 to May 16 at sites TBA.

Island Movers Track and Field: May 15 and May 16 at Big Island site TBA.
