Advertiser Staff

Firefighters have been sent to Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Pearl City to investigate reports of a chemical odor near the school.

According to initial reports from the scene, firefighters believe the smell may be coming from malathion pesticide. The firefighters are investigating the area around the school to try to determine where the smell is coming from.

Fire crews were sent out on the call a little past 8:05 a.m.

Students have been moved from classrooms to the church buildings while efforts are made to determine the source of the problem, a school official said.
