ADVERTISER PHOTOGRAPHER SNAPS FOR UB40

Advertiser photographer Jeff Widener ran into the members of band UB40 purely by chance on a Tahitian beach in 2003, but it would lead to a long-lasting friendship. The band chose Widener to chronicle its tour in Tahiti, Hawai'i, Australia and even Uganda, with a book of black-and-white photos planned in 2009; right now, Widener's pics are on the cover of UB40's new album, "Twentyfourseven."

Widner's take: "Perhaps it was the wasabi that UB40 slipped into my green tea ice cream in Australia, or watching lead singer Ali Campbell dance in his underwear, backstage in Uganda, but I felt like (the journalist) in the movie 'Almost Famous.' "
