Church offers Taize service

Christ Church Uniting Disciples and Presbyterians is offering a 45-minute Taize service on the second Saturday of the month.

The 7 p.m. service Sept. 13 features stillness, candlelight, Scripture reading and songs and chants from the Taize community in France. The church is at 1300 Kailua Road.

WORKSHOP AT CHAMINADE

"Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship," a free three-hour workshop, will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 20 at Chaminade University's Ching Conference Center.

Speakers include the Rev. Marc R. Alexander, David Coleman and Carol Ignacio, talking about the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' statement on "faithful citizenship." Participants will receive a free copy of a booklet on the subject.

CHURCH SEEKS PRAYER NAMES

Windward Unity Church is inviting people to write or send names of those to be remembered during World Day of Prayer.

The names will be acknowledged during an hourlong prayer vigil at 7 p.m. Sept. 11

They will be held in prayer, day and night, for 30 days. A candlelight labyrinth walk will also be done before, during and after the vigil.

INTERFAITH TALK ON BUDDHISM

The Rev. Richard Tennes, a minister of the Honpa Hongwanji Betsuin, will share his spiritual journey as a Buddhist at the Interfaith Open Table.

The 7 a.m. Sept. 3 meeting will be at the First Unitarian Church at 2500 Pali Highway.

The Rev. Mike Young, pastor of First Unitarian, will share his spiritual journey as well, with discussion to follow.
