A 26-year-old Waipahu postal worker hit a $1.8 million jackpot playing a $1 Wheel of Fortune slot machine at the California Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

The win by Jasmine Asami Yamauchi was confirmed by officials with both the hotel and IGT, which manufactures the Wheel of Fortune machines. Yamauchi said she plunked $40 into the machine when the jackpot hit.

Yamauchi told IGT officials that she intends to return to work because "I am too young to quit." She said she would use her winnings to buy a new home.

"I had hit on the machine earlier in the day, so I decided to go back and play again," Yamauchi said. Upon hitting the jackpot, her response was "Oh my God!"
