Two men killed in Kaua'i collision

Two men were killed in a head-on collision on Kaua'i tonight.

The victims were a 32-year-old Lihu'e man who was pronounced dead at the scene and a 42-year-old Kapa'a man who died at Wilcox Hospital.

Their names were not released.

Police said the wife of the 32-year-old and his 6-month-old child are in critical condition and are being flown to The Queen's Medical Center for treatment tonight. The Kapa'a man was alone in his vehicle.

The accident happened about 5:15 p.m. on Kuhio Highway, near the Hilton Kaua'i Beach Resort in Wailua.

Police did not release details on how the accident occurred.

The crash forced the closure of Kuhio Highway for hours as police investigated the scene.
