Kidnap, sexual assault charges dropped

Advertiser Staff

Charges have been dropped in a case in which a man was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

Charges of kidnapping, first-degree sex assault and third-degree sex assault filed against Ikaika Stone were dismissed prior to a preliminary hearing that was to be held in District Court today.

Jim Fulton, spokesman for the city prosecutor, said the prosecutor dismissed the charges "at this time."

The victim told police the assault occurred after a car she was driving collided with Stone's pickup truck the night of July 31 in Mo'ili'ili.

Stone, 24, is awaiting trial in an unrelated assault case.

He is also serving five year's probation for a 2004 conviction on a second-degree robbery charge.
