HECO project to affect Makaloa Street traffic

Advertiser Staff

(Honolulu) -- Traffic on Makaloa Street will be affected for about seven weeks while Hawaiian Electric contractors undertake utility work, HECO officials said.

The work is scheduled to begin Tuesday and continue through Nov. 21. No work will be scheduled on weekends or holidays, according to a HECO news release.

Work will start at Makaloa Substation near the intersection of Makaloa and Amana streets and proceed in short increments over the next three months to finish near the intersection of Makaloa and Poni streets.

Construction will be scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Lane closures may be necessary during work hours. On-street parking will be restricted during construction hours, but will be restored at the end of each work day.

Traffic signs and cones will be used to ensure safe access through and around the construction area, and special duty police officers will be on site to provide traffic control.
