Gov. Linda Lingle declared today "Bryan Clay Day" in honor of the Olympic decathlon champion.

"What an exciting day for us to have Bryan Clay here, home in Hawai'i. Bryan Clay does our state proud," Lingle said in a press conference at the state Capitol announcing the proclamation.

Clay attended the news conference and said he was looking forward to spending some time in the Islands.

"Hawai'i is the most supportive state in the country and for that I thank everybody in Hawai'i," he said.

Clay said he plans to spend time with family while in the Islands and eat at Zippy's.
