The U.S. Postal Service's new Hawai'i edition stamp in the Flags of Our Nation series will be issued on Tuesday.

The stamp is part of a three-year, multistamp series that features the Stars and Stripes, the flags of the 50 states, the five territories and the District of Columbia.

Officials will dedicate the stamp at noon Tuesday in the courtyard of the Honolulu airport post office.

Collectors will be able to purchase the Flags of Our Nation stamps and have them hand-canceled free with a special commemorative first-day-of-sale postmark by postal personnel from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the airport post office's courtyard.

The first set of 10 stamps in the series was issued June 14, Flag Day.

The second set, to be issued nationwide Tuesday, features the flags of the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas and Hawai'i.

In addition to the flag art, each stamp design has artwork that provides a "snapshot view" of the area represented by that flag.

The stamps are arranged alphabetically in strips of 10 and sold in coils of 50.

Four more sets of flag stamps will be issued in 2009 and 2010.

The dedication ceremonies will be emceed by Honolulu postmaster Frank Santos and will include remarks by state Attorney General Mark Bennett, standing in for Gov. Linda Lingle. The postal service's Honolulu district manager, Daryl Ishizaki, will also participate.
