Weather: Light showers likely to last the weekend

A high pressure area north of the islands will keep moderate trade winds blowing through the weekend and into next week, the National Weather Service said.

More trade showers are expected today through Tuesday, forecasters said.

Some of those showers may drift over to the leeward ares of the smaller islands at times.

Here's how the three-day weekend looks:

Today: Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 87. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Labor Day: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
