Weather: Sunny today, a few sprinkles tonight

Advertiser Staff

An area of low pressure will remain over the islands today, but will shift gradually north on Thursday and Friday, resulting in a brief return to light-to-moderate trade winds, the National Weather Service said.

The winds will turn southeasterly again this weekend as the high pressure area weakens and moves back over the state, forecasters said.

Here's a closer look at what to expect during the rest of the work week:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. West wind around 7 mph becoming south.

Tonight: Isolated showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 76. East wind around 7 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 67. East wind around 10 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 82. East wind between 11 and 13 mph.

Friday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
