Kauai Christmas Lights parade to roll on Friday

Advertiser Staff

LIHU'E – The annual Lights on Rice Parade on Kauai is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday.

The parade will begin at Vidinha Stadium, head down Ho'olako and Rice streets, and end on 'Eiwa Street at the Historic County Building.

To accommodate the parade, the Kauai Police Department will close off all county streets along the parade route, from about 5:45 to 9 p.m., including Ho'olako, Hardy, Eiwa and Rice streets, as well as all feeder roads to Rice Street.

Motorists will need to seek alternate routes to get to their destinations during the parade.

For the safety of pedestrians and vendors at the Kaua'i Museum Christmas Craft Fair, which is scheduled on the same day as the parade, there will be limited access through the 'Eiwa Street entrance behind the museum from 4:30 p.m. on Thursday to noon on Saturday.

A private security company will be directing traffic in the area.

For more information about the road closures, please call 241-4900.
