HPU puts two on All-PacWest soccer

Hawai'i Pacific placed two players, and Hawai'i-Hilo, Brigham Young-Hawai'i and Chaminade one each on the 2008 All-Pacific West Conference Men's Soccer Team announced yesterday.

HPU freshman midfielder Chance Bukoski and sophomore midfielder Linus Ekden were joined on the first team by junior forward Drew Geis of Hilo, junior midfielder Adam Maciejewski of BYUH and sophomore midfielder Nick Smith of Chaminade.

Bukoski tied for third in the PacWest with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. Ekden scored 12 points on four goals and four assists. Geis, who also earned All-Pac West first-team honors in 2006, scored 18 points on eight goals and two assists. Maciejewski finished sixth in scoring with 13 points on six goals and one assist. Smith scored six points on three goals.

Notre Dame de Namur freshman forward Cristobal Montes was named Player of the Year, and the Argos' Lance Thompson Coach of the Year.


GOLF

HUNT, RADKE PREVAIL

Bill Hunt and Maurice Radke of the Golf Academy of Hawai'i won the Aloha Section PGA E-Z-GO/Golf Concepts Head Professional-Assistant Professional Championship with a birdie on the first playoff hole yesterday at the Hualalai Golf Club on the Big Island.

Hunt and Radke (69—135) beat the Hawai'i Prince Golf Club team of Tim Herek and Kalani Kiaaina (67—135) to earn the $2,500 first-place check. Sharing third place at 136 were Turtle Bay Golf's Kevin Carll and Tad Fujimaki (68), Pearl Country Club's Beau Yokomoto and Regan Lee (65), and Kapalua Golf's Mike Jones and John Shaw (68).
