New Year's blessings planned at Izumo Taishakyo Mission of Hawaii

is offering a traditional Japanese New Year's blessings at the Shinto shrine, 215 North Kukui St., beginning at midnight New Year's Eve and continuing until 5 p.m. New Year's Day.
After that, blessings continue for the first few days during the day and new ofuda (talisman) and omamori (amulet) will be blessed. The Jan. 2-4 hours of the shrine will be 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
