Credit union members target of scam

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu Federal Credit Union is warning its members of a phishing scam in which the perpetrator is attempting to obtain personal information from credit union members via cell phone.

Credit union executives said customers of T-Mobile are receiving a text message telling them that their Honolulu Federal Credit Union ATM card has been suspended.

The customers are asked to call a telephone number with a Mainland area code to reactivate their cards.

Mark Munemitsu, HFCU's vice president for finance and information systems, said the text message is fraudulent and he warned those who received it not to respond.

Credit union members with questions can call 203-5850.
