Baseball stadium staying open during repair work

Iron Maehara Baseball Stadium in the War Memorial Complex will remain open during bleacher repairs that started this week.

The county Department of Parks and Recreation said portions of the bleachers will be cordoned off for welding of structural supports. The $51,200 job is being performed by A+ Welding Service Inc. and is expected to take a month.

High school baseball practices scheduled to begin on the field Dec. 15 will not be affected by the project, according to the parks department. The public is asked to avoid roped-off areas and comply with safety notices posted near the work site.
