Sunday is 'Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day'

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle has declared Sunday "Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day" and has ordered the Hawai'i state flag to be hung at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.

The declaration is in conjunction with President George Bush's proclamation to raise flags in half staff in honor of those who died as a result of service at Pearl Harbor.

The military base was bombed by Japanese bombers 67 years ago at 7:55 a.m., and marks the United State's invovelment into World War II. The attack killed more than 2,000 people.
