Surf subsiding today

Advertiser Staff

The surf along north-facing shores will be subsiding today to 6 to 10 feet and be relatively small along east and south facing shores, according to the national weather service.

Surf along the west-facing shores will be about 3 to 5 feet today. And through Friday the surf is expected to be moderate along north- and west-facing shores, but increasing by Tuesday night.

Surf heights are forecast heights of the face, or front, of the waves. Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Swimmers should expect to encounter rip currents near any surf zone.
