CFB: Georgia will face Michigan State in Capital One Bowl

Associated Press

ATLANTA — Georgia will take on Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day.

The invitation to the Orlando, Fla., game is something of a consolation prize for the No. 16 Bulldogs (9-3), who started the season ranked No. 1 but failed to meet expectations. They were routed by Alabama and Florida and closed the regular season with their first loss against Georgia Tech since 2000.

Michigan State (9-3) had a shot to play in the Rose Bowl but lost to Penn State 49-18 in its regular-season finale.

Georgia will be making its 12th straight bowl appearance.
